True Creations balances the art of good woodturning design and proper
engineering to produce drop spindles that are not only beautiful to look at, but also
a joy to spin with. Jim spent a year working with an accredited spinner and
members of the Genesee Valley Handspinners Guild on the specifications for a
great spindle. True Creations’ spindles are a result of that design process.
The custom shape of each whorl makes every True Creations’ spindle unique.
This gives us the ability to bring out the true beauty in each piece of exotic wood
used. Each whorl includes four notches which provide you with the flexibility to
bring your fiber to the hook as you like. The shafts are 1/4 inch in diameter,
which allows for high spin rates. The spindle length is determined by the whorl
diameter to minimize wobble. Additionally, each hook is hand formed and tested to
center the fiber on the spindle axis.
True Creations makes spindles in three sizes. The standard spindles weigh
between 1 and 1.6 oz, have a whorl diameter of 2.5-3.5 inches and a shaft length
between 9 and 12 inches. Our mini spindles have a weight between .5 and 1.0 oz,
have a whorl diameter between 1.5 and 3 inches and a shaft length between 8 and
10 inches. Our maxi spindles have a weight greater than 1.6 oz, have a whorl
diameter between 2.5 and 3.75 inches and a shaft length between 9 and 12 inches.
The retail price points for our spindles are: Standard = $45-50
Mini = $40-45
Maxi = $50-55
